Cotswolds
2026 isn’t about a new you. It’s about showing up for the one you already are.

January has a funny habit of arriving with a megaphone. New year, new you! Bigger goals! Better habits! By the time I’ve finished my first cup of tea, I often feel like I’m already behind.
As a yoga teacher and someone still finding her feet as a studio owner, I’ve already started to see this pressure play out. People arriving on their mats full of good intentions and very high expectations. But here’s the thing I’ve learned both personally and professionally: wellness doesn’t thrive under criticism. It grows with curiosity, kindness and a bit of humour when things wobble.
Movement is one of the most powerful tools we have for overall wellbeing, yet even gentle, inconsistent, or imperfect sessions can make a real difference. Sometimes movement looks like a strong, sweaty practice. Other days it’s five slow stretches before bed, or a walk where you actually notice the sky instead of your phone. Your nervous system doesn’t notice calendars or checklists. It responds to safety, rhythm and the gentle flow of your breath.
Yoga, at its heart, isn’t about touching your toes or mastering impressive poses. It’s about learning how to listen. How does your body feel today? Where are you holding tension? What do you need more of? Energy, softness, steadiness, rest? When movement comes from that place, it becomes sustainable. And sustainability is the unsung hero of wellness.
As we step into 2026, I’d love to offer a different kind of invitation: instead of asking “What should I change?”, try asking “What supports me?” Instead of chasing motivation, build rituals that feel friendly. Instead of aiming for transformation, aim for connection - to your body, your breath and your life as it actually is.
Wellness isn’t a destination you arrive at fully sorted (if only). It’s a relationship - one that evolves, backtracks, surprises you, and occasionally makes you laugh at yourself. And movement, when approached with patience and playfulness, can be one of the most grounding ways to nurture that relationship.
So, here’s to 2026: less pressure, more presence. Fewer rules, more listening. And movement that feels like coming home, rather than something else to get right.
Move, Breathe, Repeat:
- Five minutes counts: Yes, really. Stretch, sway, shimmy…your body will thank you.
- Check in with yourself: Ask, “What do I actually need today?” not “What would Instagram approve of?”
- Mix it up: Walk, dance, roll on the floor with your dog… anything that sparks joy (bonus points for laughter).
- Consistency beats perfection: Skipping a day? No biggie. Keep going tomorrow.
- Remember your breath: It’s free, it’s powerful, and it makes even the busiest days feel a little calmer
