This winter, the Cotswolds’ most enchanting event returns as Sudeley Castle lights up its historic grounds for the Spectacle of Light 2025. Running from 21 November to 30 December, this year’s dazzling trail celebrates ten years of festive magic with a brand-new theme, The Court of King Arthur and the Magic of Merlin.

Visitors can wander through the castle’s stunning gardens, glowing with thousands of twinkling lights and vibrant colour displays. Along the way, you’ll meet mythical characters from the Arthurian legends, Guinevere, Lancelot, and Merlin  and perhaps even glimpse Excalibur, glistening under the winter sky.

Each section of the illuminated trail tells a story, weaving together light, music, and atmosphere to create a truly magical journey. From mirrored reflections on the moat to glowing woodland scenes, every corner of Sudeley Castle’s Spectacle of Light feels like stepping into a living fairy tale.

Of course, no festive evening would be complete without some winter indulgence. Along the trail, you’ll find tempting stalls offering mulled wine, hot chocolate, and delicious street food, plus crackling fire pits for toasting marshmallows and warming your hands.

Families love the event’s relaxed, welcoming feel, perfect for little adventurers and grown-ups alike. Children under three go free, and groups of 15 or more can enjoy a 25% discount, making it an ideal Christmas outing for friends, schools, or work celebrations.

Tickets start from £19.20, with a 10% early bird discount available until 20 November. Tickets must be booked in advance through the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham, and are not available at the castle gate.
