Cotswolds at Westminster Abbey!

This autumn, a touch of the Cotswold made its way to the nation’s capital, as local grower Pete Drinkwater was invited to Westminster Abbey’s annual Harvest Festival Service, one of the most significant celebrations of the farming year.
The vibrant arrangement, featuring freshly harvested cabbages, carrots, and root vegetables from the Drinkwater Farm, celebrated the enduring traditions of British farming and the vital work of growers across the country.
Among the many distinguished guests, Her Majesty Queen Camilla stopped to admire the display, taking a particular interest in the history of the Drinkwater family farm and Pete’s much-loved Ferguson tractor, which has faithfully served the family’s fields for generations.
The annual Harvest Festival at Westminster Abbey gives thanks for the abundance of the land, and each year the produce on display is donated to community kitchens and local charities, ensuring it continues to nourish those in need after the service.
For Pete, it was both an honour and a humbling experience; a chance to represent the dedication of farmers who work tirelessly to keep the nation fed.
If you’re passing through Vegetable Matters Farm Shop, be sure to pop in and say hello to Pete. He’s always happy to share stories from what has been a truly memorable occasion.
